I read or watched somewhere that women need more sleep than men. Since that basically explains the main plot of my life, no further convincing was needed. I’m a total napper and can’t function without a 10 mins post-lunch nap every day.
If women need more sleep sounds like an excuse to you, you’re probably a man, or maybe you have SSS (short sleep syndrome if you’re wondering) which is a total blessing cause look at how many extra hours you’d have every day.
Thinking about getting that second job? Well you could (not that you should). Maybe you’d finally have time to finish that docuseries that’s been on your watchlist since last year? Sounds great.
Imagine waking up at 4am every day feeling totally refreshed. Imagine basking in the complete silence of the night when nobody tells you that you need to reply your emails or asks what’s for breakfast.
On that note, I have complete respect and sympathy for mothers with babies that viciously wake them up every 30 mins. Are babies against sanity? And they ask why we lose our minds.
Anyway I’m glad there’s at least some explanations for that. On why women need more sleep, not why babies are against sanity. Hormones, menstrual cycles, anxiety and exhaustion from the mental load we’re enduring every day to run our households and make sure everyone is fed and adequately cleaned… We use our brains more is what I’m understanding, and it’s more or less aligned with my personal experience.
Men could understandably be offended by this lack of appreciation for their shares of mental load. They did remember to take out the trash last night after all. But on the other hand, I’m offended by the fact that I’ll never be as jolly as them with 6 hours of sleep.
So leave us and our sleep alone, lucky bastards.
